Practical guidance
Preparing an image for a specific pixel size in a document, presentation or website.
The main Resize image action creates PNG output at the width and height you enter. It resizes the whole image without cropping.
Enter dimensions with the same aspect ratio to avoid stretching. For a 4000 × 3000 source, use 1200 × 900 rather than 1200 × 1200.
To preserve proportions, multiply the original height by the new width divided by the original width. Round to a whole pixel before entering the result.
Original: 4000 × 3000 pixels
Target width: 1200 pixels
Target height: 3000 × 1200 / 4000 = 900 pixelsDownload the PNG when you need transparency or crisp graphics. For photographs intended for a website or email, continue to the compressor or a format converter and compare the output. Avoid enlarging a small image simply to meet a file-size requirement.
Good to know
When both width and height are entered, both are used. Calculate matching dimensions yourself to avoid distortion. For example, 1600 × 900 and 800 × 450 share the same proportions.
No. The entire image is fitted into the dimensions you enter, which can stretch it if the proportions differ. Use Image Cropper when you need to remove part of the image.
No. The main resize action exports PNG, so a resized JPG or WebP can still become a larger file. Convert or compress the resized result if your priority is download size.
No. Increasing dimensions interpolates existing pixels. It does not recreate detail missing from the source.

Yes. It is free to use and has no artificial file-size limit. Your browser and device memory determine the practical limit.
