Practical guidance

When to use View metadata

Best for

Inspecting basic image properties and available camera or descriptive metadata before sharing.

What you get

A table with format, byte size, dimensions and supported scalar metadata fields when present.

Useful tip

A missing field does not prove that all metadata is absent. This viewer displays a subset of the available information.

Distinguish image properties from embedded metadata

Width, height and byte size describe the image file itself. Camera settings and descriptive fields are additional embedded information that may or may not exist. Inspect the source before editing if you need to retain those details for your own records.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Why does my image show no camera information?+

The source may not contain EXIF data, an earlier export may have stripped it, or its metadata may not be supported by this viewer.

Does this viewer show every metadata field?+

No. It displays supported scalar fields, with a limit of 80 parsed entries. It is not a complete forensic metadata inspection.

Does my file leave my device?+

No. This tool processes your file inside your browser and does not send its contents, name or metadata to Filemivo.

Is View metadata free?+

Yes. It is free to use and has no artificial file-size limit. Your browser and device memory determine the practical limit.
